Renewable Energy Solutions
With the world heading more and more quickly towards
an energy crisis, it is important that we reduce our dependency on
non-renewable sources of energy. Non-renewable sources are fuels
such as oil and coal of which there is only a limited amount left in
the world. Renewable energy solutions refer to energy sources that
can be used without limitation - sources that will always be there.
And preferably, sources that don't create their own impact on the
environment (e.g. wood is renewable, but burning lots of it is bad
for the environment). There are three main types of renewable energy
solutions - solar, wind, and hydro.
Solar power solutions:
The sun’s energy is almost constant and with us
everyday. It is available to all and contrary to popular belief even
on cloudy days there is usually enough energy to generate
electricity. To make use of the sun's energy all you need to do is
setup some simple solar panels. Alternatively you can use the sun's
power for the likes of solar cookers, solar heating systems, solar
lights etc.
The sun has always been a source of heat and light energy. Plants
have utilized this energy since the dawn of time to help them grow.
With the advancement of technology, the sun’s energy can now be used
to generate electricity.
Solar energy systems have many advantages. They are cost effective
and environmentally friendly. They are also low on maintenance
meaning you are able to install and then pretty much forget about
them. If setup cost-effectively solar systems give you a return on
assets very quickly. Cooking with solar energy is also extremely
healthy. Many families have started employing solar energy power
solution in their homes.
Hydro power solutions:
If you have the right conditions then hydro
electricity generation is also an effective form of renewable
energy. One can turn the hydro energy into electricity relatively
easily - indeed many of our towns and cities are powered by
hydro-power. Hydro energy is typically generated on a large scale
through dams and such. It has been estimated that 90 percent of all
renewable energy is generated by hydro power.
Wind power solutions:
Windmills were in existence even in the time before
the birth of Christ. They have helped tow boats and pump water as
well as grind grain into flour. And post-industrialization, they
became a source for generating electricity.
Windmills and wind turbines can create tonnes of megawatts of
electricity. Indeed, many big electricity generators now use them.
When employed at individual houses or neighborhoods it can replace
conventional energy sources. As a strong renewable source of energy
wind power will greatly assist in promising a good future to
generations to come.
